ALEXI LUBOMIRSKI: MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST

While I used to fear that if I didn’t keep feeding my photography, I would lose it, I now understand that you have to break away and expand your creative muscles to exist in a more constant, creative flow.
— Alexi Lubomirski

Growing up between England and Botswana, Alexi Lubomirski is a narrative-driven fashion photographer, who enjoys creating images that feel both aspirational and authentic.

Lubomirski’s photography is defined by its elegant yet contemporary sensibility, blending classical composition with a fresh, spontaneous energy. His portraits exude warmth and intimacy, capturing his subjects in moments that feel both timeless and deeply personal. Whether photographing Hollywood icons, royalty, or emerging talent, he brings out an emotional depth that sets his work apart. His fashion photography, rich in cinematic storytelling, embraces movement, bold contrasts, and a refined use of light.

Beyond aesthetics, Lubomirski integrates his personal values into his artistic practice. A dedicated advocate for ethical fashion, he applies self-imposed constraints to minimize environmental impact. In 2018, he launched the initiative Creatives4Change—the first issue was to ask creatives in the industry to sign a pledge stating that they would no longer use fur, feathers or exotic skins in any of their creative work. His commitment to sustainability reflects a broader philosophy: that beauty should be not only seen but also upheld with integrity.

Despite traveling the world and working with some of its most recognizable faces, Lubomirski’s greatest inspiration remains his family. A poet at heart, he approaches life—and his art—with a romantic lens, always seeking the light within his subjects. His photography is about beauty, romance and positivity.

In 2008, Lubomirski published his first book of photographs and had his first exhibition: TRANSIT, at MILK gallery in New York – a mixed media commentary on TV culture, comprised of pre-conceived film stills.

In 2014, he published two books. Firstly, DECADE, a photography book highlighting the best of his fashion work from his first ten years as a photographer, and secondly, PRINCELY ADVICE for a HAPPY LIFE, a book written for his two young sons, on the virtues of being a good person in the 21st Century. The title has been translated into six languages.

In 2016, Lubomirski released his second photo book to accompany the exhibition, DIVERSE BEAUTY, a body of work that aimed to highlight a broader and more diverse range of beauty, than that typically presented in fashion magazines and campaigns.

In 2020, he published his first book of poetry, TALK TO ME ALWAYS – Poetry, Prose and Photography.

In 2022, he published a children’s book, WHAT ARE WORDS REALLY? A book to teach children about the power of words and the responsibility needed when using them.

In 2023, he published THE SITTINGS: 2003-2023, an archive of work highlighting 20 years of celebrity portraiture.

Proceeds from all of Alexi’s books go to the humanitarian charity, Concern Worldwide, of which he is an ambassador.
