Robert Farber has experimented with polaroids throughout his career, treating them as a medium in their own right rather than as preparation shots for his film images. In this photograph captured in the summer of 1982, a lone umbrella and blanket sit on a sandy beach, the shore dancing on the sand at the bottom of the frame, creating a calming and wistful effect.
