FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY AND ARCHITECTURE

July 26 - August 22, 2020

What reinforces the content of a photograph is the sense of rhythm –the relationship between shapes and values.
— Henri Cartier Bresson

The Selects Gallery is pleased to present a new curation of photographs exploring the relationship between fashion photography and architecture. With images from internationally renowned photographers such as Giovanni Gastel, Richard Phibbs, Greg Lotus, and  Paul Bellaart, it intends to reveal how the synthesis of Fashion photography and architecture work to reinforce each other to create a more powerful meaning for the image.

Within a photographic image, architecture and fashion create a dynamic layer of meaning that imbues the image with a greater sense of purpose. Architecture and fashion are both manifestations of style and allure — these elements reflect individuality, emotion, creative expression, and a prowess for flair. They work in harmony to unlock the potential of the photographic medium. It is a partnership that offers consistent aesthetic appeal and vast intellectual importance.
