This image of model Eva Herzigova who graced the cover of all the major fashion bibles and was even dubbed the Marilyn of the Nineties was taken in New York in 1989. It is part of a series shot by Antoine Verglas very early on in his career for Elle France, featuring the most famous models of the time in the confidential setting of their own apartment.

In 1989 Herzigova had just left Prague to follow her modeling career. She was quickly edging into the elite world of Fashion and had not experienced her breakthrough partnerships with 1992 Guess campaign, and later the infamous "Hello Boys" ad for Wonderbra.

The documentary-like approach mixed with the photographer’s unique personality makes anyone at ease and feels very special, giving this photograph a sense of realism and a uniquely intimate and sensual feel which has become known as the “Verglas Signature”.
