With only empty bottles, straws, and branded Coca-Cola crates as his focus in this image, Arthur Belebeau was able to conjure the energy and spirit of a true Americana summer. Beautiful in its aesthetic loyalty to the bottles and limited color palette, this image can also be a statement on materialism in that an entire country’s experience can be represented by a single soda bottle. This image may be compared to pop art icons, such as Andy Warhol’s Campbell's Soup cans in content, but in style it is distinctively Arthur Belebeau’s. The poppy nature of the lighting and saturated red hues fall in line with some of his other most successful photographs.
